Postal Strike Disruption Update
November 22, 2024

As the Canada Post labour disruption continues, we are working to minimize impact to our guests as much as we are able. Please bookmark this page for continual updates as the situation progresses.

LANGLEY RETAIL CENTRE CANADA POST CAPABILITIES

At this present time, our Canada Post depot at our Langley Retail Centre is able to sell stamps and accept packages with prepaid postage (such as Amazon Returns). However, these packages are being held until operations resume, and not currently being sent for delivery.

MAILED MATERIALS, INCLUDING NEW MEMBER PACKAGES & ADVERTISING MATERIALS

The distribution of New Member welcome packages is on hold until the labour dispute ends. Membership sign-ups will continue as normal, and once the labour dispute is resolved, packages will be mailed out as soon as possible to all new members. Membership verification letters and member card re-orders will be similarly affected.

Mailers and other scheduled advertising materials are also on hold until we are able to resume delivery. We invite guests to view our flyer digitally at https://www.co-op.crs/flyers and on the Co-op App. We are looking towards local newspapers and other delivery methods when feasible.

AN IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING PAYMENTS

In light of the ongoing postal strike, our finance team is aiming to minimize any disruptions to your payment processes while maintaining our commitment to environmental sustainability.

For Credit Clients: To prevent unnecessary finance charges caused by postal delays, we recommend dropping off cheques on-site. For faster processing, please include your membership number or JDE number on the cheque.

Alternatively, we encourage you to take advantage of:

  • E-statements and automatic withdrawals—a no-cost option for our members.
  • Other accepted payment methods, including E-Transfers and bill payments.
  • Please find our payment method instructions form at the bottom of this article.

At Co-op, we remain dedicated to supporting your needs and reducing our environmental impact. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time.

For Vendors:

While we generally discourage cheque pick-ups at the Administration Office, we are happy to accommodate these requests temporarily to avoid delays. We strongly encourage transitioning to Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) for a secure and efficient payment method.

For International Vendors: EFT is not an option, but we can arrange wire transfers. Please note that a wire transfer fee will be applied to your payment.

If you have any questions or need assistance updating your payment preferences, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team at credit@otter-coop.com (preferred method), or call (604) 856-2517.
